The "Mallard" sat in tonight for the Tri-Again as Race Committee. We took some time before the start to check wind at RM2 and at the time there was very little breeze out there. We were in a quandry about course selection. Choose a short course and we would have a couple reaching legs. Choose a longer course and we MIGHT have a beat. The wind did fill in but course 3 was not the right choice (should have been course 5) to get a beat. We shortened course as the first 3 boats finished with a setting sun behind them. It was hotter, more humid, and buggier than we have seen in weeks, but the sailing was still good even if it was on the light side.
