Rules and Eligibility
To be eligible to qualify for the DRYA Down River Championship Series, a yacht must:
• Be owned by a member in good standing with one of the following clubs: Ford Yacht Club, Grosse Ile
Yacht Club, North Cape Yacht Club, or Toledo Yacht Club
• Have a current and valid PHRF-LE certificate for the year of the award
• Have started 4 qualifying races listed in these instructions for the year of the award from one of the
following clubs: Ford Yacht Club, Grosse Ile Yacht Club, North Cape Yacht Club, or Toledo Yacht Club
• Submit page 2 filled out in its entirety of this document to the scoring official before October 1st of the
award year. (No entry fee is needed to submit results.)
Scoring
• Scoring will calculate using the Cox-Sprague scoring system as listed on US Sailing’s website:

• Scoring will be based on the best 4 overall finishes of any of the qualifying races listed. (There will be no
splits for rating bands, only the overall place in a regatta will be counted.)
• Only one entry may be submitted, either for a group of Spinnaker or Jib and Main class races.
• In the case of a tie, the yachts in tie will have all the races that both yachts competed in compared and the
yacht with the lower points will break the tie. If the low points of those races compared do not break the tie,
then the last race they sailed against one another will break the tie. If neither yacht races one another during
a season, an additional race will be added from the qualifying list until the tie is broken.

• GIYC Day Race 5/27/2023
• TYC Invitational Mills Trophy Race 6/09/2023 (*Cannot break ties with this event)
• FYC Mid Summer Series 7/12/2023 & 7/19/2023 (Series of 2 races)
• GIYC Downriver Race 7/29/2023
• FYC Regatta 8/12/2023
• NCYC Commodore Perry 9/16/2023
• NCYC O’Connell Fall Bay 9/23/2023 & 9/24/2023
Awards
• Awards will be given for the top Spinnaker and Jib and Main boat
• Awards will be presented by DRYA at their awards night in the Fall.
• Recipients of awards will receive further notice to make reservations.
