Sail GI is 501c3 non-profit that is located on the beautiful island of Grosse Ile, and partnered with the Ford Yacht Club. Our mission is to promote safe boating through education, instruction, and experiences both on and off the water.
Please join us for our summer pursuit style "rum races" These are fun races once a month on Sundays in pursuit style starts. Pursuit style racing gives each boat their own start time based on their handicap with the idea that all boats should finish at the same time. Whomever finishes first, wins!
Sunday Rum Races are available to any boat. We will assign you a base rating. For every US Military Veterans, US Military Active Duty, and First Responder you have on board, we will credit you 5 seconds per mile! The initial ratings are based on Lake Erie PHRF handicaps for Jib and Main racing. You do not need a PHRF certificate. If you do not have a certificate your rating will be assigned by the race committee. The races are Jib and Main only.
